Pune Man Robbed of Rs 80,000 After Dating App Meet Turns Violent in Kondhwa
Pune, 23rd January 2026: In a shocking incident from Pune’s Kondhwa area, a casual interaction on a dating app allegedly escalated into a robbery for a 27-year-old man, who was looted of valuables worth approximately ₹80,000.
According to police, the victim, a resident of Wagholi, came in contact with an unknown person on a dating app on January 11. He was later asked to meet near Sheetal Petrol Pump around 9 pm. Upon reaching the spot, the man was allegedly confronted by three youths.
The accused reportedly threatened the victim with a sharp weapon, dragged him to an open area in Pansarenagar, assaulted him, and forcibly robbed him of his mobile phone, ring, jewellery and cash. The attackers also allegedly made the victim withdraw money from an ATM before fleeing the scene, warning him of dire consequences if he raised an alarm.
Following the complaint, Kondhwa Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the surrounding areas is being scanned to identify the accused. The probe is being carried out under the supervision of Sub-Inspector Gavade.
Police have urged citizens to exercise caution while interacting with or meeting strangers through dating apps and to prefer public, well-lit places for such meetings.
