Pune: Saraswati Puja Celebrated with Devotion and Culture at Aagomoni Prabasi Sangha’s Baner Venue
Pune, 23rd January 2026: Saraswati Puja, the festival dedicated to the Goddess of learning, art and creativity, is being celebrated today, Friday, January 23, by Aagomoni Prabasi Sangha in Pune. This year’s observance holds special significance as it also marks the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, one of India’s greatest freedom fighters.
Speaking about the occasion, Rajesh Burman, Chief Secretary of Aagomoni Prabasi Sangha, said Saraswati Puja occupies a unique place in the cultural and social life of the community. “In Bengal, it is a long-standing tradition for students to place their books and learning tools near the Goddess and refrain from studying for the day. This symbolic act represents surrendering knowledge to the divine,” he said.
He added that children, teenagers and adults seek blessings for success in education, music, painting and other creative fields. Cultural programmes such as classical music, dance performances and poetry recitations are an integral part of the celebrations, reflecting the belief that learning and creativity go hand in hand.
“The festival reminds us of the importance of education, creativity, humility and discipline. It brings together families, students, teachers and the wider community in a spirit of devotion and celebration,” Burman said.
Saraswati Pujo 2026 marks the 9th glorious year of celebrations by the Sangha. The event is being held at Kundan Garden on Baner Road, next to Farmaish Hotel, Baner, Pune – 411045.
The puja began at 8.30 am, followed by Hathe Khori at 10.30 am, Pushpanjali at 11 am and various competitions from 10 am onwards. Bhog distribution started at 1 pm, with parcel bhog also available at the venue for devotees.
