Shaniwar Peth, 24th January 2026: Vishrambaug Police have registered a case against Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) spokesperson Rupali Patil-Thombare for allegedly obstructing government work during the counting of votes for the Pune Municipal Corporation elections.

The complaint was filed by Sudhir Alurkar, a deputy engineer with the Pune Municipal Corporation. Patil-Thombare had contested the civic elections from Ward Nos. 25 and 26. The counting of votes took place on January 16 at the New English School premises on Tilak Road.

According to police, during the counting process, Patil-Thombare claimed that Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) had been replaced. She submitted a written objection and insisted on receiving an acknowledgment for it. Police said she then moved near the barricaded area of the counting centre and allegedly used abusive language while addressing officials present there.

In his complaint, Alurkar stated that her actions disrupted the vote-counting process and prevented officials from performing their duties. Following the complaint, Vishrambaug Police registered a case, and further investigation is underway.
