Pune’s Aarav Sancheti clinches the triple crown at 92nd National Billiards and Snooker Championship
Pune, 27th January 2026: Pune’s 15-year-old Aarav Sachin Sancheti achieved a historic feat by winning the championship in all three categories: Junior (Under-21) Snooker, Sub-Junior (Under-17) Billiards, and Snooker and clinching a triple crown in the 92nd National Billiards and Snooker Championship 2025-26. He has become the only player from Maharashtra and Pune to win the Under-21 and Under-17 titles at the age of just 15. Furthermore, Aarav is the first player in the country to win the Junior Snooker title at the age of 15.
This national tournament recently held in Bahadurgarh HL City, Haryana, in the Junior (Under-21) Snooker competition, Aarav defeated Rahul Williams of Tamil Nadu in a hard-fought match with a score of 4-3 (69-75, 90-28, 56-59, 11-66, 82-25, 61-10, 59-28), achieving a historic victory and securing the championship. In the semi-finals of this category, Aarav had defeated A. Abdul Saif of Tamil Nadu with a score of 4-2.
In the Sub-Junior (Under-17) Billiards competition, Aarav defeated Rahul Williams of Tamil Nadu by a margin of four points (320-316) to win the championship. In the semi-final of this group, Aarav defeated Mohammed Mustafa of Karnataka 242-168 to reach the final. In the Sub-Junior (Under-17) Snooker competition, Aarav dominated the group by defeating Owais Khan of Madhya Pradesh 3-0 (80-27, 88(88)-00, 74-26).
Aarav is the son of national and state-level snooker and billiards player Sachin Sancheti, and like his father, he has proven his talent in this cue sports discipline. Aarav currently trains under coach Vignesh Sanghvi at the Amanora Fern Club. Aarav was ranked No. 1 in the Indian (National) Sub-Junior 2024 Snooker and Billiards category and also No. 1 in the Maharashtra (State) Sub-Junior category.
In August 2025, Aarav also won the Junior (Under-19) title at the first Hey-Ball National Championship held in Delhi. In July 2025, Aarav represented the Indian team at the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) World Under-17 and Under-21 Snooker Championships held in Manama, Bahrain. Aarav is currently preparing for his 10th-grade examination through the NIOS open schooling program. Aarav also participated in the IBSF World Under-17 Snooker Championship held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 2023.
