Pune Water Crisis: Shiv Sena Flags Larvae in Drinking Water in Mohammadwadi, Undri Areas
Mohammadwadi, 31st January 2026: Allegations of contaminated drinking water have surfaced from parts of Ward No. 41 in Pune, with Shiv Sena’s Pune city chief Pramod (Nana) Bhangire claiming that residents are receiving unsafe water in the Mahadevwadi area. According to him, people have reported the presence of larvae in the municipal water supply, raising serious public health concerns.
Bhangire has submitted a written complaint to Pune Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishor Ram Saheb, stating that citizens from Ghule Nagar, Khalchi Aali and Madhli Aali have approached him after noticing worms and impurities in the water coming through PMC pipelines. He said the issue has caused panic and anger among locals, who fear the spread of infections and diseases.
Apart from the water quality issue, Shiv Sena has also flagged another alarming problem. The party alleges that sewage water from Survey No. 12 is entering residential houses in the locality, worsening the risk of contamination and making daily life difficult for families living there.
Bhangire said such conditions expose vulnerable groups — including children, elderly residents, women and patients — to serious waterborne illnesses. He termed the situation a failure of basic civic responsibility and called for immediate action from the municipal administration.
The party has demanded that PMC arrange an emergency supply of clean and treated drinking water, inspect and repair damaged pipelines, and take swift steps to prevent sewage from flowing into homes. Shiv Sena has also set a 48-hour deadline for the civic body to resolve the issue.
Warning of protests if the matter is not addressed quickly, Bhangire said the health of citizens cannot be compromised under any circumstances. He urged PMC officials to treat the complaint as urgent and ensure safe living conditions for residents of the affected areas.
