Ganeshotsav: Pune Allows DJs, Loudspeakers Till Midnight On 5 Days
Pune, 16th September 2026: Public Ganesh mandals in Pune will be allowed to use loudspeakers and DJs until midnight on five days during Ganeshotsav, following an order by the district administration.
The relaxation will apply on September 19, 20, 22, 23 and 25. Ganesh mandals will also be allowed to keep their tableaux open for visitors until midnight on these days.
The administration granted the extended timings considering the crowds visiting tableaux and the immersion processions. Pune police have made special arrangements to manage the expected footfall, particularly in the central parts of the city.
Police commissioner Amitesh Kumar said the focus would remain on crowd management, traffic regulation and the safety of devotees. “There will be no compromise on the safety of devotees, particularly in the crowded central areas,” he said.
Meanwhile, flying drones without permission has been prohibited in the central parts of the city. The restriction will apply around crowded areas, Ganesh mandals and immersion procession routes. A special drone seizure squad has been deployed to take action against those violating the restrictions. Drones authorised for the use of prominent Ganesh mandals will be exempted.
The city is also gearing up for visits by several VIPs and VVIPs during the festival. Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar are among those scheduled to visit Pune from Wednesday for Ganesh darshan and other programmes.
Meanwhile, Maratha Kranti Morcha leader Manoj Jarange-Patil is scheduled to travel towards Mumbai. He is expected to stay at a marriage hall in Loni Kalbhor on the evening of September 17. His convoy is scheduled to leave for Mumbai from Swargate via Karvenagar and Chandni Chowk between the morning and afternoon of September 18.
Pune police have deployed additional personnel in view of the VIP movements and the expected festival crowds.
