Pune, 4th February 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) carried out a strict anti-plastic and cleanliness enforcement drive in the Neco Garden area of Viman Nagar, targeting commercial establishments using single-use plastic carry bags and dumping mixed waste. The action followed several complaints about violations of the plastic ban and the failure to segregate wet and dry waste.

The drive was conducted in the presence of PMC officials Dr. Sadhana Bhangre, Sachin Ladkat and members of the HMS team. During the inspection of the commercial zone around Niko Garden, officials found multiple shops and businesses disposing of waste in mixed form and continuing the use of banned single-use plastic bags.

The municipal team issued clear instructions to the concerned traders to strictly follow civic and sanitation rules. They were directed to segregate waste at source into wet and dry categories, stop using plastic carry bags immediately and ensure proper disposal of garbage as per PMC guidelines.

Officials said such enforcement actions will be intensified across the city to maintain cleanliness and protect the environment. They warned that strict penalties will be imposed on those who continue to violate waste management and plastic ban rules in the future.
