MHADA Pune Lottery for 4,186 Homes Scheduled for February 10
Pune/Mumbai, 7th February 2026: After months of delays triggered by technical issues and the enforcement of election-related restrictions, the MHADA Pune Board is set to conduct the long-awaited lottery draw for 4,186 housing units on February 10. The process will take place immediately after the Model Code of Conduct for the Zilla Parishad elections ends on February 9, officials said.
The postponements had caused growing frustration among more than 2.15 lakh applicants, many of whom have been awaiting updates on the allotment since last year.
The housing units were offered under MHADA’s 20% Inclusive Housing Scheme and 15% Integrated Housing Scheme. Registrations began in September, but the response was initially slow, and technical difficulties prompted authorities to extend the application deadline twice. Consequently, the draw, which was originally expected in October, was first deferred to December.
However, verification of over two lakh applications took longer than anticipated due to technical complications, preventing MHADA from conducting the lottery as planned. Efforts were made to complete scrutiny before the municipal election code of conduct came into force, but the process remained unfinished, leading to another delay.
The repeated postponements have sparked criticism on social media, with applicants questioning MHADA’s administrative efficiency. Some have also demanded interest on the deposits paid during the application process, arguing that the funds have remained with the agency for several months without the allotment being finalised.
Further disappointment followed in January when, just as the municipal code of conduct was nearing its conclusion, the Zilla Parishad election code came into effect, pushing the draw back once again. MHADA had sought special permission from the State Election Commission to proceed with the lottery, but the request was not approved.
With the code of conduct set to end on Monday, MHADA officials say preparations are in place to conduct the draw without further postponement. Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil, Chairman of the MHADA Pune Board, confirmed that February 10 has been identified as the tentative date for the lottery. He added that Deputy Chief Minister and Housing Minister Eknath Shinde has been invited to attend the event.
Officials acknowledged that any further delay could intensify public dissatisfaction and said the board is determined to complete the process within the coming week.
If conducted as scheduled, the February 10 draw is expected to bring long-awaited clarity and relief to over two lakh applicants hoping to secure affordable homes in and around Pune.
