Sunetra Pawar Reviews Pune District Plan, Calls for Timely and Impactful Use of Funds
Pune, 12th February 2026: Deputy Chief Minister and Pune District Guardian Minister Sunetra Pawar on Thursday directed authorities to ensure efficient and timely utilisation of funds under the District Annual Plan, stressing that development works must be completed within set deadlines and with assured quality.
Chairing the District Planning Committee (DPC) meeting via video conference from the state legislature, Pawar reviewed expenditure under the 2025–26 plan and approved the draft framework for the 2026–27 district plan. She urged implementing agencies to maintain the disciplined, time-bound approach adopted in recent years so that projects translate into visible public benefits.
Highlighting the need for strategic allocation of resources, Pawar said Pune district has been given a tentative ceiling of ₹1,032.88 crore for the 2026–27 plan. However, departments have submitted proposals totalling Rs 3,128 crore. After scrutiny, the district administration plans to seek an additional Rs 700 crore from the state government.
She advised officials to prioritise larger projects with broader social and economic impact rather than spreading funds thinly across numerous small works. Development of remote and highly backward regions must receive special attention, she added. Pawar also instructed departments to adhere to strict timelines for administrative approvals, tendering processes, and execution.
Although she attended virtually, Pawar announced that a comprehensive in-person review meeting would be held in April. Public representatives were asked to submit priority works from their constituencies to the DPC without delay.

The meeting saw participation from a wide spectrum of elected representatives and senior administrators. Those present included Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Dattatray Bharane, Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal, Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Dr. Neelam Gorhe, several MLAs, Pune Mayor Manjusha Nagpure, Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, PMRDA CEO Yogesh Mhase, Pune Municipal Additional Commissioner Prithviraj B.P., and District Collector Jitendra Dudi.
Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, Members of Parliament Supriya Sule and Dr. Amol Kolhe, along with other public representatives, joined the session virtually.
Current Plan Allocation and Progress:
District Collector Dudi informed the committee that the state government has approved a total outlay of Rs 1,589.46 crore for the 2025–26 financial year. This includes Rs 1,379 crore under the general district plan, ₹145 crore earmarked for the Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan, and Rs 65.46 crore under the Tribal Component Programme.
Officials presented a detailed review of expenditure and project progress, along with an outline of proposed works under the 2026–27 draft plan.
The meeting concluded with a collective emphasis on improving planning efficiency and ensuring that development initiatives are completed within stipulated timelines.
