“Chalo… Chalo Kashmir!” — Kashmir Icon’s Emotional Appeal to Pune Citizens
Pune, 12th February 2026: The relationship between Kashmir and Maharashtra goes beyond tourism and reflects mutual affection, trust, and respect, the Kashmir-based organisation Kashmir Icon said in a statement issued in Pune.
Expressing gratitude to the people of Pune, Kashmir Icon urged them to take the lead in reviving tourism in the Valley. Present at the interaction were Managing Director Nasir Shah and Directors Mir Anwar, Athar Yameen and Shaukat Pakhtoon, among others.
The organisation said Maharashtra has long welcomed people from Kashmir with warmth and dignity. Every year, between October and April, thousands of Kashmiri artisans, traders and entrepreneurs travel to Maharashtra and become part of the state’s social, cultural and economic life. This relationship, it noted, is rooted not only in commerce but also in tradition, trust and long-standing emotional ties.
Referring to the impact of the April 22 incident, Kashmir Icon said the tourism sector in the Valley faced a major emotional and economic setback. It added that during this difficult phase, Maharashtra—particularly Pune—stood with Kashmir and extended support.
With the situation improving, Kashmir is now ready to welcome tourists again, the organisation said, and appealed to citizens of Pune to help lead the revival of travel to the region.
“Even if no one else comes forward, Pune will travel to Kashmir,” the statement said, giving the call: “Chalo… Chalo Kashmir!”
Highlighting the Valley’s natural beauty and hospitality, Kashmir Icon invited Punekars to consider Kashmir a second home and visit once again.
