Pune: PMC’s ‘Abhay Yojana’ Ends in Two Days; Civic Body Keeps Offices Open This Weekend for Tax Collection

Pune, 12th February 2026: With only two days remaining for the conclusion of the ‘Abhay Yojana’ (Amnesty Scheme), the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has appealed to property tax defaulters to clear their dues immediately to avail of the benefits and avoid strict legal action.

The scheme, which offers a massive 75% discount on the penalty and interest amounts of outstanding property tax, is set to close on February 15, 2026.

Ravi Pawar, Deputy Commissioner and Head of the Tax Assessment and Collection Department, urged citizens to come forward voluntarily. “This is the final opportunity to clear tax dues with a significant waiver on penalties. We appeal to maximum property owners to take advantage of the remaining two days,” Pawar stated.

Weekend Facility for Citizens

To facilitate last-minute payments, the PMC Tax Assessment and Collection Department has announced that all Citizen Facilitation Centers (Nagari Suvidha Kendra) across the city will remain open this weekend.
Saturday, February 14
Sunday, February 15 The centers will operate until 8:00 PM on both days to accommodate citizens.

Scheme Timeline

The Abhay Yojana was initially launched from November 15, 2025, to January 15, 2026. However, responding to public demand, the civic body extended the deadline from January 16 to February 15, 2026.

Crackdown on Defaulters

The PMC administration has warned that strict action will be taken against those who fail to pay their dues after the scheme ends.
Sealing Drive: The department has already initiated action under Rule 42 of Chapter 8 of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act (Taxation Rules).
Current Status: As of today, the PMC has sealed 188 properties belonging to defaulters.
