Pune Metro Line 3 Completes Trial Run Between Hinjawadi and Shivajinagar
Pune, 14th February 2026: In a key development for the city’s transport infrastructure, the trial run of Pune Metro Line 3 between Hinjawadi and Shivajinagar has been successfully completed.
The 23.203-km corridor connects Hinjawadi IT Park at Man with Shivajinagar, covering one of Pune’s busiest and most traffic-congested stretches. The successful trial marks a significant step towards the commencement of commercial operations on this crucial metro route.
Officials said the trial assessed the performance of the trains, safety mechanisms and overall operational readiness across the entire alignment. With this phase completed, the project has moved closer to being opened for public use.
The corridor is expected to benefit thousands of IT professionals working in Hinjawadi, as well as students and daily commuters travelling to and from Shivajinagar and other key areas. Once operational, the metro line is likely to ease road congestion, reduce travel time and provide a safer, more comfortable commuting option.
Authorities also expect the project to help curb vehicular pollution by encouraging a shift to public transport. The successful trial between Hinjawadi and Shivajinagar is being viewed as a major boost to Pune’s expanding metro network and broader urban mobility plans.
