Abu Dhabi, 14th February 2026: Veteran badminton players from Pune delivered an impressive performance at the Abu Dhabi Open Masters Games 2026, securing multiple medals and adding to India’s tally at the international event. Raj Singh led the contingent with a standout display, winning three medals across different age categories.
Silver in 60+ Men’s Doubles
Competing in the 60+ Men’s Doubles category, Raj Singh paired with Dhananjay Deshpande to claim the silver medal. The duo displayed strong coordination, effective net play and sound match strategy throughout the tournament. They put up a determined fight in the final before finishing second.
Bronze in 60+ Mixed Doubles
The event also marked the international debut of Rekha Dhupar. Teaming up with Raj Singh in the 60+ Mixed Doubles category, the pair advanced through competitive rounds to secure a bronze medal. Dhupar’s confident showing and her on-court understanding with Singh drew appreciation from participants.
Bronze in 45+ Men’s Doubles
Singh also competed in the 45+ Men’s Doubles category alongside Pratap Mekala. The pair earned a bronze medal after a closely contested semifinal. They won the opening game 15-8 but narrowly lost the second 18-20, before bowing out after a tight decider.
