Pune Municipal Corporation Bulldozes Unauthorized Structures in Kharadi, Sayyednagar, Sadashiv Peth

Pune, 17th February 2026: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) conducted a major crackdown on unauthorized constructions in the city today, deploying bulldozers in Kharadi–Hadapsar (Sayyed Nagar) and Sadashiv Peth. The operation, which began at 9 a.m., demolished a total of 17,500 square feet of temporary and permanent illegal sheds and structures.

The action was carried out under the orders of the PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram, with Deputy Commissioner Somnath Bankar and Chief Security Officer Dr. Ramesh Shelar overseeing the operation. Teams, including officials from the Building Development Department, encroachment inspectors, and engineers, were deployed directly at the sites to supervise the demolition.

Massive Deployment for Operation

For the operation, 16 PMC police personnel, 25 MSF (Maharashtra Security Force) personnel, 5 JCB machines, 5 gas cutters, 4 breakers, and 45 municipal workers were deployed. Although the areas experienced tense moments from early morning, the administration completed the operation in a planned and coordinated manner.

Demolition Details
The crackdown targeted a total of 185 encroachments across the city:
Handcarts – 6
Pavements – 94
Counters – 5
Other encroachments – 72
Gas cylinders – 8
The operation was conducted jointly with the Building Development Department, with support from the Skysign Division.

Administration Issues Warning
PMC officials issued a stern warning against unauthorized constructions and encroachments, stating that strict action will continue wherever rules are violated. With encroachments on the rise, the administration has adopted an aggressive approach and may conduct more large-scale drives in the near future to reclaim public spaces and enforce building regulations.
