Shalabh Goel Appointed General Manager of Central Railway

Mumbai, 17th February 2026: Shalabh Goel, Managing Director of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), has been appointed as the new General Manager of Central Railway. Goel is a 1989 batch officer of the Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE).

With over three decades of experience in the Indian Railways, Goel has held several key assignments across operational, administrative and technical domains. His previous roles include Executive Director at the Ministry of Railways, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Mumbai Division of Central Railway, Chief Electrical Locomotive Engineer in Central Railway, and Senior Deputy General Manager-cum-Chief Vigilance Officer (SDGM/CVO) of Western Railway.

During his tenure as DRM, Mumbai Division, Goel managed train operations during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, overseeing continuity of essential rail services and operational safety measures for passengers and staff.

Prior to joining NCRTC, he served as SDGM-cum-CVO of Western Railway. He has also worked with multiple railway zones and organisations including Central Railway, Northern Railway, Western Railway, the Ministry of Railways, and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

Goel has extensive experience in railway operations, electrification, electrical locomotive maintenance, energy management and general administration. His service record includes several recognitions, including Minister of Railways and General Manager awards.

NCRTC, where he was serving as Managing Director, is a joint venture of the Centre and the state governments of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh under the administrative control of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor, being implemented by NCRTC, is the country’s first such rapid regional rail project.
