Pune: EPFO Akurdi Defeats Hinjawadi in Thrilling Final of Inter-Office Cricket Competition

Pune, 17th February 2026: The Regional Offices of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) in Akurdi and Hinjawadi jointly hosted a sports competition on Tuesday, featuring a cricket match at the Sanjay Kale Sports Complex that drew enthusiastic participation from employees and their families.

Officials said the event was conducted in line with guidelines issued by the EPFO Sports Promotion Board to encourage fitness, teamwork, and workplace camaraderie. Manoj Mane, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner–II from the Akurdi office, and Ashwini Kumar Singh, Assistant Commissioner from the Hinjawadi office, attended the programme and also joined the players on the field.

In the 10-over match, the Hinjawadi team batted first and scored 81 runs. A total of three matches were played during the competition. In the final, the Akurdi team clinched victory by chasing down the target with 82 runs in seven overs, losing six wickets.

Suraj Munde was named Man of the Series, while Harish Jadhav received the Man of the Match award. Girish Jha was adjudged Best Bowler. The matches were officiated by umpires Nihar Ranjan Nayak and Mahesh Deshpande, with Kumar Amit serving as match referee.

Members of the organizing committee present included Tapas Kumar Bal, Dinesh Shelar, Alok Kumar, Manoj Asrani, Pushpal Tiwari, Pankaj Nema and Raju Raykar, among others.

Sanat Kumar, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner–I, Akurdi, said such activities foster unity, coordination and mutual understanding among employees, improving organisational efficiency and public service delivery. In a message, Bijayant Kumar, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner–I, Hinjawadi, highlighted that sports help build morale, teamwork and a positive work environment. Regional Provident Fund Commissioner–II Sachin Borate also conveyed his best wishes to all participants.
