Pune, 18th February 2026: A massive fire engulfed two adjacent warehouses on Wagholi–Lohgaon Road in Lohgaon on Tuesday, reducing substantial stocks of furniture, oil and grease to ashes. Firefighters battled the flames for more than two hours before bringing the situation fully under control.

The affected units, Royal Automobile, owned by Naresha Mulla, and Woods Italia, owned by Sachin Sharma, were operating from shed structures built with iron angles, channels and sheet roofing. The land on which the warehouses stood is reportedly owned by Vinod Khandwe, a resident of Lohgaon.

According to fire officials, the two warehouses measured approximately 9,000 sq ft and 1,500 sq ft, respectively. The presence of highly combustible materials, including oil, grease and wooden furniture stock, led to a rapid escalation of the blaze.

Thick smoke and intense heat emanating from the premises made initial firefighting efforts challenging and prompted the call for reinforcements from multiple stations.

Fire tenders from Dhanori, Kharadi, Yerwada and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) fire stations were dispatched to the scene. Water and foam were extensively used to suppress the flames.

While the primary blaze was contained within approximately 40 to 45 minutes, cooling operations continued for another two to two-and-a-half hours. Firefighters also used a JCB machine to remove collapsed metal sheets and debris to prevent rekindling.

In total, the operation involved:
-Four fire engines from different stations
-Two 15,000-litre water bowsers
-Six private water tankers

The operation was led by Sopandev Pawar, In-charge Fire Officer at Dhanori Fire Station, and Dattatray Satav, In-charge Deputy Fire Officer at Kharadi Fire Station. Around 20 to 25 personnel, including officers and firefighters from multiple units along with PMRDA fire brigade staff, were involved in the effort.

Authorities confirmed that no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, and officials are currently assessing the extent of financial losses incurred due to the blaze.
