Pune: Grand Lezim Performance by Tejaswini Women’s Lezim Pathak Marks Shivjayanti Celebrations at Shivneri Fort

Junnar, 21st February 2026: The historic Shivneri Fort, revered as the birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, witnessed a vibrant and culturally rich celebration on the occasion of Shivjayanti on Thursday. Adding grandeur to the event, Pune’s first all-women lezim troupe, Tejaswini Women’s Lezim Pathak, delivered a powerful and captivating traditional performance that drew loud appreciation from the gathering of Shivbhakts.
Dressed in traditional Maharashtrian attire, the members of the Pathak reached the hill fort early in the day and performed a synchronized lezim act accompanied by the beats of traditional percussion instruments. The highlight of the presentation was “Shivray’s Palna”, a symbolic tribute depicting the birth and childhood of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, which emotionally connected the audience with the legacy of the Maratha warrior king.
The rhythmic coordination, energetic formations, and disciplined movements of the performers created a lively atmosphere across the fort premises. Devotees and visitors present at Shivneri responded with enthusiastic applause and chants of “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Ki Jai!”, celebrating both the historic occasion and the cultural performance.
Information about the performance was shared by Pathak Pramukh Mrs. Dnyanada (Shruti) Supekar and Mrs. Jyoti Deshpande, who expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and encouragement received from the audience.
Organisers and attendees praised the group’s dedication, noting that performing at the hill fort while wearing traditional attire required significant effort and preparation. The performance not only showcased Maharashtra’s folk art heritage but also highlighted the growing participation and leadership of women in preserving cultural traditions.
