Hockey: St. Vincent’s bag one title; lose the other

Pune, 21st February 2026: St. Vincent’s bagged one and lost the other final, while GRPS, Narayangaon and Shree Anantrao Kulkarni English Medium School, (SAKEMS), Narayangaon pocked one title each in their respective sections, on the penultimate day of the Fr. Schoch Memorial 2026 Inter School Hockey tournament, powered by Bharat Forge Kalyani Group, at Major Dhyanchand Hockey Stadium, Nehrunagar-Pimpri, on Saturday.

The tournament is being held under the aegis of Hockey Maharashtra and organized by ELAN (Ex Loyola Alumni Network) along with Loyola High School for the sixth year in succession.

St. Vincent’s won the Under-12 Boys title and lost the Under-14 Boys title. GRPS, Narayangaon bagged the Under-14 Girls title, while SAKEMS downed St. Vincent’s for the Under-14 Boys title.

During the day, the Under-12 Boys final had St. Vincent’s get the better of host’s Loyola 1-0, with Riyansh Mali (32’) netting the all-important match winner.

Later, SAKEMS, Narayangaon grabbed the Under-14 Boys title with a fluent 2-0 win over St. Vincent’s and dashed St. Vincent’s hopes of a possible double. A brace of goals by Swayam Mule (50’, 59’) settled the issue for SAKEMS.

The Under-14 Girls title was claimed by GRPS, Narayangaon who downed Sant Tukaram 4-2 via the shootout after both teams shared honors after a 0-0 draw at the end of full time. Anushka Fulsundar, Sanskruti Kolhe, Tanvi Samvanshi, Parnavi Kharage netted for the winners, while Aarti Solanki and Aaditi Pillwale reduced the margin for the losers.

In the Under-17 Boys finals, St. Patricks will take on Sant Tukaram for the title. In the semifinals played on Saturday, Sant Tukaram earned a walk-over from Col. Bhagat who failed to turn up for their semifinal. In the other semifinal, St. Patricks downed Loyola 2-1. Sandesh Kudule (13’, 29) netted for St. Patricks, after Vishwaraj Giri (10’) opened the scoring for Loyola.

Later, in the Under-17 Girls section, St Josephs, Pashan pushed out a 4-0 win over arch rivals St Annes with Anvu Ravat (13’, 55’) and Caelyn Nesamani (14’, 88’) scoring a brace of goals each. In the final, St Joseph’s take on Lokmanya, who got the better of Sant Tukaram 2-0.

Both boys and girls finals have been slated for Sunday.
