Traffic Restored on Pune–Mumbai Expressway After Tanker Crash Cleared
Lonavala, 23rd February 2026: Traffic on the Pune–Mumbai route returned to normal after authorities cleared the gas tanker that had crashed into a roadside barrier near the Amritanjan Bridge on Monday morning, briefly disrupting movement toward Mumbai and causing long queues during peak hours.
Officials said the driver had lost control before the vehicle struck the divider and came to a halt along the shoulder. As a precaution, traffic was restricted to limited lanes while emergency teams secured the spot and ensured there was no safety risk.
Superintendent Tanaji Chikhale confirmed that no gas leakage occurred and that the tanker was safely removed. With the obstruction cleared, all lanes have now been reopened and vehicular movement has stabilised. Police thanked commuters for their cooperation and advised motorists to continue following lane discipline on the ghat stretch.
