Pune: Kharadi Resident Alleges Chicken Found in Veg Burger, Seeks Probe
Koregaon Park, 23rd February 2026: A food contamination complaint has caused concern in Pune after a Kharadi resident alleged that a non-vegetarian item was found in a burger he had ordered as vegetarian from Burger King, a fast-food outlet in Koregaon Park, through an online delivery platform, Zomato.
The customer said he was shocked to discover a piece of chicken inside the burger and described the incident as distressing and offensive to his dietary beliefs. He stated that the issue was not just a service lapse but something that affected him emotionally, adding that he worries other customers might also face similar mistakes.
After he reported the matter, the delivery platform processed a refund. However, the complainant said a refund alone was insufficient given the seriousness of the incident and that he wanted formal action. He tried to file a complaint with the national food regulator but claimed he could not complete the online process.
He has now decided to approach the state food and drug authority to lodge an official complaint and seek accountability from those responsible.
The episode has drawn reactions on social media, where users have called for stricter food handling practices, proper separation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items, and tighter monitoring by authorities. Many said the incident highlights the need for stronger safeguards to protect dietary preferences and maintain public confidence in food safety standards.
