Pune, 23rd February 2026: In a unique initiative to encourage citizen participation in traffic management, the Pune City Traffic Police felicitated the top users of the ‘PTP’ (Pune Traffic Police) mobile application with cash prizes and certificates on Monday.

The prize distribution ceremony was held at the Pune Police Commissionerate, where Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar rewarded five citizens who reported the highest number of traffic rule violations during the month of January.

The ‘PTP’ App Reward Scheme

Launched earlier in January for the general public, the ‘PTP’ app allows citizens to click and upload pictures or register complaints against errant drivers violating traffic rules across the city.

To boost the app’s usage, the Pune City Traffic Branch, in collaboration with the Pune Platform for Collaborative Response (PPCR), introduced a cash reward scheme for the top five citizen reporters. The first-prize winner was awarded ₹50,000 along with a certificate. The second, third, fourth, and fifth-place winners received ₹25,000, ₹15,000, ₹10,000, and ₹5,000, respectively.

Additionally, three police personnel (Amaldars) who registered the maximum number of actions through the ‘PTP’ app were honored with certificates of appreciation by the Police Commissioner.

Massive Public Response and ₹3.83 Crore Fines Recovered

DCP (Traffic Branch) Himmat Jadhav revealed impressive statistics regarding the app’s adoption. To date, 93,190 citizens have used the ‘PTP’ app, submitting a total of 1,81,555 violation cases. Following thorough verification of these complaints, the traffic police have successfully issued challans for 1,32,485 cases.

Interestingly, a mandatory prerequisite of the app—which requires users to clear their own pending traffic fines before they can report others—has resulted in the recovery of ₹3,83,37,900 in pending challans from the app users themselves.

Official Appeal to Citizens

The felicitation event was attended by senior police officials, including Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjankumar Sharma and Additional Commissioner of Police (Eastern Regional Division) Manoj Patil.

Addressing the gathering, CP Amitesh Kumar appealed to all Pune residents to download the ‘PTP’ app in large numbers. He urged citizens to act as the eyes and ears of the traffic police by reporting undisciplined drivers, thereby helping maintain a smooth and safe traffic system in the city.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Himmat Jadhav, who congratulated the winners and expressed gratitude to the participating citizens.
