Pune: Kharadi Police Destroy Loud Motorcycle Silencers in Major Anti-Noise Drive, 45 Bikes Seized

Kharadi, 24th February 2026: In a strict move against vehicular noise pollution, the Kharadi Police Station of Pune City took decisive action against unruly motorcyclists on Tuesday. Police seized and destroyed modified silencers from 45 Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycles and other two-wheelers that were producing loud, ear-piercing “firecracker” noises in the Kharadi area.
The police action followed numerous complaints from local residents who were highly disturbed by the severe nuisance caused by youngsters riding these altered vehicles. The offenders had intentionally replaced their original company-fitted silencers with modified ones designed to create disruptive popping sounds.
Taking serious cognizance of the violation of the Motor Vehicles Act, the Kharadi Police Station’s investigation team laid multiple traps during routine patrolling to apprehend the perpetrators.
After confiscating the 45 motorcycles, the police initiated strict legal action against the riders. The modified silencers were immediately removed, and the riders were compelled to refit the original company-approved silencers.

To send a strong message and permanently put a check on this menace, the police ran a bulldozer over the confiscated modified silencers, completely destroying them.
Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Chavan of the Kharadi Police Station has appealed to all citizens to proactively contact the Kharadi police if they encounter any motorcyclists creating loud firecracker noises in the area in the future.
This major crackdown was successfully planned and executed under the expert guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (East Regional Division, Pune City) Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-7) Somay Munde, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Kharadi Division) Pranjali Sonawane, and Senior Police Inspector Shri Sanjay Chavan.
The operations on the ground were carried out by Police Sub-Inspector Rahul Kolpe alongside police personnel Mahesh Nanekar, Navnath Walke, Sachin Patil, Sahebrao Gundale, Santosh Lavate, Vilas Kedari, Ashok Kedar, Shrikant Kodre, and Suraj Jadhav.
