Pune: Rs 6,000 Crore Loan Sanctioned for Purandar International Airport Land Acquisition
Pune, 24th February 2026: A loan of ₹6,000 crore has been sanctioned for the acquisition of nearly 3,000 acres of land for the proposed Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje International Airport at Purandar. The land acquisition process has reached its final stage, and compensation is expected to be disbursed to farmers within the next 15 days, District Collector Jitendra Dudi said.
Following a decision taken at the state Cabinet meeting last month, the Maharashtra government approved raising ₹6,000 crore through borrowings to fund the land required for the airport project.
A special purpose vehicle (SPV) has been constituted to raise the loan. It comprises the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC), and CIDCO, with CIDCO holding the largest share. The final financial structure and related approvals will be decided by the state government.
Officials said it may take around 15 days to complete the remaining formalities related to raising the loan. Collector Dudi stated that once the funds are secured, compensation will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of the affected farmers. He added that the administrative process is in its final phase.
The proposed airport at Purandar is expected to emerge as a major aviation hub for the Pune region after completion, easing pressure on the existing airport and supporting future growth.
