Pune, 5th March 2026: In a major move to safeguard public health and infrastructure, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has officially sanctioned a budget of ₹2020.00 Lakh (₹20.20 Crore) for the repair and replacement of water and drainage lines across several critical zones.

The decision, finalized in Resolution No. 451 (dated January 19, 2026), aims to resolve persistent issues of water contamination caused by aging and choked drainage systems. The project was recommended by the Standing Committee and approved by Administrator Naval Kishore Ram.

Project Scope and Financials
The sanctioned funds are directed toward Zones 1 to 5, following a comprehensive list of contaminated water sites submitted by the Water Supply Department. The work involves repairing existing pipelines and laying new ones to ensure a clean water supply to thousands of residents.

Comprehensive List of Project Locations

Based on the official annexures, the following areas have been identified for immediate work:
1. Yerawada & Nagpur Chawl Regions
Shivraj Chowk: Near Shri Dinesh Gole’s residence.
Ashok Nagar (Maniknagar): Near Neelam Sahakari Gruha Rachna.
Lakshminagar: Near Ahmed Shaikh’s office and Yashwantnagar Sairam Flour Mill.
Kamrajnagar & Janata Nagar: Near Suresh Rathod’s and Sadik Shaikh’s houses.
Prabhag No. 5: Balwadewadi Sanjog Mitra Mandal and Kharadi Sambhajinagar.
Yerawada Gaothan: Near Mother Teresa Hall, Hotel Patil, and the Vagheshwar Dudh Dairy.
Nagpur Chawl: Specialized repairs near the Masjid gully and Krishna shop in Jadhavnagar.
Tadiwala Zopadpatti: Full water line replacement and repair.

2. Shivajinagar & Janwadi
Janwadi Road: Work near Hirvi Chawl and the PMC Lab Chawl.
Religious Sites: Near the local Masjid and the Maruti Mandir in Wadarwadi.
Settlements: Janta Vahatuk (Dharnagar) and the Mukari Anna office area in Badarwadi.
Machi Market: General water line repairs to prevent contamination.
Gaothan Areas: Including Siddheshwarwadi, Someshwarwadi, and various internal lanes.

3. Khadki, Range Hill & Bopodi
Range Hill Road: Near Ashwini Nagar and Ambedkar Nagar.
Bopodi: Near Survey No. 24 and Sunder-Gully No. 2.
Khadki Station: Repairs across internal lanes near the railway station.

4. Dhankawadi, Sahakarnagar & Kondhwa Khurd
Dhankawadi: Neighborhoods including Shrinagar, Gulmohar Housing Society, and Bhagyoday Society.
Aagam Mandir: Specialized drainage works to prevent monsoon-related contamination.
Kondhwa Khurd: Focus on Nityanand Park, Shivneri Nagar, and surrounding gullies.

5. Kondhwa Budruk & Upper Indira Nagar
Mithanagar: Extensive repairs in Lanes 2, 8, 9, 10, and near the Prince Park complex.
Ajmera Park: Lanes 1, 2, and 3.
Ashraf Nagar: Specific focus on Lanes 5, 7, and 10.
Gokulnagar (Kondhwa): Internal repairs in Lanes 3, 9, and 10.
Upper Indira Nagar: Major infrastructure overhaul in Sectors 80-B and 100-B.

6. Parvati & Vadgaon Sheri
Parvati Darshan: Survey No. 38/1 (Junya Vihir) and Survey No. 49 to 53.
Vadgaon Sheri: Major drainage line repairs across Survey No. 49-53 to address overflows.

Execution and Oversight
The Municipal Secretary’s office, led by Yogita Bhosale, has forwarded these orders to the Chief Engineer of the Drainage and Water Supply Departments. The documents indicate that work orders were processed in early February 2026, and field operations are expected to begin immediately to mitigate health risks before the upcoming monsoon season.
