Pune, 5th March 2026: Maximum temperatures across the city and its suburbs have risen sharply by nearly two degrees, pushing the mercury close to 38°C and intensifying heat conditions. On Wednesday (March 4), Lohgaon recorded the highest maximum temperature at 37.7°C, followed by Koregaon Park at 37.5°C. Several other areas reported temperatures hovering around 36°C, adding to the discomfort for residents.

Over the past week, fluctuating day and night temperatures had led to alternating spells of heat, mild chill and cloudy skies, contributing to an increase in seasonal health complaints. However, during the last 48 hours, both maximum and minimum temperatures have risen noticeably. The minimum temperature, which had recently dropped to around 10–11°C, has now increased to 15–16°C.

The maximum temperature, which was around 32–33°C a few days ago, has now climbed to nearly 38°C. Areas including Lohgaon, Koregaon Park, Dapodi, Shivajinagar, Hadapsar, Wadgaon Sheri and Magarpatta have recorded a clear rise in daytime heat. Residents have begun feeling the intensity of the sun as early as 11 am, while warmer nights have further added to the discomfort.

According to the Pune Meteorological Observatory, clear skies are likely to persist over the city and district for the next two days. Both day and night temperatures are expected to rise further, which could increase the overall heat intensity.
