Pune/Mumbai, 11th March 2026: The Maharashtra government has introduced a rule requiring individuals and organisations to obtain written consent from the family of late Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar before using his name for any trust, institution, statue, memorial, or public initiative.

The directive was issued by the Maharashtra Charity Commissioner following a request submitted by the office of Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar.

According to officials, the measure has been introduced to prevent the unauthorised or commercial use of Ajit Pawar’s name and to protect the dignity associated with his legacy. Authorities anticipate that several organisations and memorial initiatives may be proposed in his honour after his sudden demise on January 28, 2026, prompting the government to introduce a clear approval mechanism.

Under the new guidelines, anyone intending to establish a trust, organisation, educational institution, memorial structure, or statue bearing Ajit Pawar’s name must first obtain a written No Objection Certificate (NOC) from his family before submitting applications for registration or official approval.

Officials said the directive has been circulated to all divisional and district-level charity offices across Maharashtra, instructing them to strictly verify family consent before approving or registering trusts and institutions associated with the late leader’s name.

The government said the move is aimed at ensuring that any initiative undertaken in Ajit Pawar’s memory is carried out with the knowledge and approval of his family, while preventing misuse of his name for personal or commercial purposes.
