Security Review Underway at Pune Railway Station After Solar-Powered Spy Cameras Case
Pune, 15th March 2026: Security checks are underway at Pune Railway Station after arrests made by Ghaziabad Police in an alleged espionage case involving the installation of disguised surveillance cameras at sensitive locations.
Officials of the Railway Protection Force Pune Division said they have not received any official communication about the station being targeted, but verification of surveillance equipment installed across railway premises is being carried out as a precaution.
Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Priyanka Sharma said the verification is being conducted across Pune station and other stations in the division.
“So far no official communication has been received in this regard. However, we are cross-verifying all cameras installed across Pune station and other stations to rule out any suspicious or unauthorised surveillance,” Sharma told Punekar News.
The development comes after Ghaziabad Police arrested six individuals in connection with an alleged espionage network suspected of installing solar-powered CCTV cameras at strategic locations to monitor movements of security forces and share information with handlers across the border.
RPF officials said they are coordinating with relevant authorities while continuing routine monitoring of surveillance systems at railway stations.
“We are also communicating with concerned authorities. 24×7 surveillance monitoring is continuing at the Pune station. Our cyber cell is also monitoring for any cyber suspicious activity,” Sharma said.
Security monitoring and technical checks are continuing at Pune Railway Station and other stations under the Pune division.
