PMC Demolishes 10,000 sq ft of Illegal Structures in Lohgaon and Kharadi

Pune, 17th March 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Tuesday carried out a demolition drive against unauthorised constructions in Lohgaon and Kharadi areas along the Pune-Nagar Road.

Civic officials said around 10,000 sq ft of illegal temporary and permanent structures, including sheds, were removed during the early morning operation.

The drive began around 6 am and the civic body had deployed 20 police personnel and 50 Maharashtra Security Force (MSF) personnel for the action. Six JCB machines, two gas cutters and four breakers were used for the demolition. The operation was supported by six assistant encroachment inspectors and 20 labourers, officials said.

The drive was conducted under the directions of municipal commissioner Naval Kishor Ram, with deputy commissioner Somnath Bankar, chief security officer Dr Ramesh Shelar, and assistant municipal commissioner Prakash Walgude overseeing the operation.
