New Delhi, 18th March 2026: Indian Railways’ integrated mobile application, RailOne App, has recorded 2.57 crore downloads, with an average of 7.64 lakh tickets both reserved and unreserved being booked daily through the platform as of March 15, 2026.

The application enables passengers to book reserved, unreserved, and platform tickets on mobile phones, effectively bringing the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) and Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) onto a single digital platform. It also offers services such as train enquiry, PNR status checks, and access to RailMadad.

According to information presented in the Lok Sabha by Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the app integrates multiple passenger-facing services into a unified interface with a single login, supported by advanced security and privacy features. The app is available on Android and iOS platforms.

In addition to RailOne, passengers continue to book reserved tickets through the website and app of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation. Currently, around 88% of reserved tickets across Indian Railways are booked online.

To expand access to ticketing services, Indian Railways has also deployed multiple categories of agents. These include Halt Agents, Jan Sadharan Ticket Booking Sevaks (JTBS), Station Ticket Booking Agents (STBA), and M-UTS Sahayaks for unreserved ticketing. Yatri Ticket Suvidha Kendra Licensees (YTSKL) are authorised to issue both reserved and unreserved tickets, while IRCTC engages e-ticketing agents for reserved bookings.

No prior experience is required for engagement as Halt Agents, JTBS, STBA, or M-UTS Sahayaks, making these schemes accessible to eligible individuals, including unemployed youth. However, applicants for YTSKL must have at least two years of experience in railway ticketing due to the complexity of handling reserved bookings.

Agent appointments are made for a fixed tenure under specified terms and conditions, with provisions for termination in case of violations. Renewals and fresh applications are undertaken on a continuous basis.
