Pune: Doctor Assaulted For Asking Treatment Fees in Loni Kalbhor, One Arrested
Pune, 19th March 2026: A 35-year-old man allegedly assaulted a doctor and vandalised a hospital in Loni Kalbhor after being asked to pay for his treatment, police said.
An offence has been registered against the accused, identified as Santosh Ramesh Gunjal, a resident of Kakade Vasti in Theur.
According to police, the complainant doctor runs a hospital near Theur Phata on the Pune–Solapur Road. On Wednesday afternoon, around 12.45 pm, the accused arrived at the hospital with a head injury.
The doctor provided first aid and dressed his wound. However, when asked to pay the treatment charges, the accused allegedly refused and began abusing the doctor and hospital staff.
Police said Gunjal then created a ruckus on the premises and smashed the hospital’s glass door using a stone. A piece of shattered glass struck a patient on the hand, injuring him. The accused also allegedly hurled a stone at the doctor, causing injuries.
A case has been registered in the matter, and further investigation is underway.
