Pune: Parents Allege Fee Disparity at Lexicon International School Kalyani Nagar, Seek Probe
Kalyani Nagar, 20th March 2026: A group of 148 parents from Lexicon International School in Kalyani Nagar has approached the education department alleging significant disparities in the school’s fee structure across different grades and seeking regulatory intervention.
In a written complaint dated March 16, 2026, addressed to the administrative officer of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) education department, the parents stated that the annual fees charged by the school vary widely, ranging from ₹86,866 to ₹1,91,762. According to them, the issue has continued for three academic years—from 2023 to 2026—despite repeated representations made to the school management.
The parents have alleged that students in Classes 1 to 3 are being charged nearly double the fees compared to those in higher grades. They claim that the fee difference exists despite there being no visible variation in infrastructure, faculty, curriculum, or facilities provided to students across grades.
The matter has drawn further attention due to the proposed fee structure for the 2026–27 academic year. As per the complaint, fees for Grades 2 to 4 remain significantly higher compared to other grades. At the same time, parents have claimed that newly admitted Grade 1 students have reportedly been offered fees nearly 75 percent lower than those charged to students in the same cohort in previous years.
In their representation, the parents said the disparity persists even though academic offerings and amenities remain uniform across classes. They also stated that the fee structure has placed a financial burden on several families.
The group has sought two key measures from the authorities: a revision of the fee structure for Grades 2 to 4 to align it with other grades, and compensation or adjustment for what they describe as excess fees collected over the past three years. They have also requested authorities to ensure that the school maintains status quo and does not take any adverse action against students or parents while the matter is under review.
The complaint, supported by more than 225 parents, has also been marked to the Fee Regulating Authority and the Divisional Fee Regulation Committee.
Punekar News had reached out to the Lexicon management for their response, but they did not respond till the time of publishing this report.
