Pune Court Rejects Anticipatory Bail Plea of Shiv Sena (UBT) Leader Vasant More in Atrocities Act case
Pune, 23rd March 2026: A Pune sessions court on Monday rejected the anticipatory bail application filed by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Vasant More in a case registered against him under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The case, registered at Shivajinagar police station, pertains to alleged objectionable and defamatory remarks made by More against Vishwanath Lahade during a press conference.
According to the complaint, More, during a press conference held at the Pune Municipal Corporation on February 25, allegedly made objectionable remarks about Lahade.
Police said the case was registered after a video of the remarks went viral on social media, following which the complainant approached the police alleging damage to his image.
More had approached the court seeking anticipatory bail, but the Pune District and Sessions Court rejected his plea after hearing arguments from both sides. Advocates Akash Sable and Kapil Shivsharan represented the complainant.
