Pune: PMC’s Rs 15,669 Crore Budget Focuses on Welfare, Infrastructure; Senior Citizens to Get 50% PMPML Fare Concession
Pune, 24th March 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation on Tuesday presented its record Rs 15,669 crore budget for the financial year 2026–27, with a strong focus on public welfare and infrastructure development. A key highlight of the budget is a 50 percent fare concession for senior citizens on buses operated by Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML).
The budget, which has crossed the Rs 15,000 crore mark for the first time, was tabled by Standing Committee Chairman Shrinath Bhimale in the presence of Mayor Manjusha Nagpure. It reflects an increase of Rs 1,674 crore compared to the Rs 13,995 crore proposal submitted earlier by Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram.
Officials said the financial plan aims to strike a balance between development and welfare, with emphasis on strengthening civic infrastructure while enhancing service delivery.
In addition to the transport relief, the budget proposes a 50 percent rebate on property tax for properties registered in the name of women, a move aimed at promoting financial empowerment.
To improve sanitation infrastructure, the civic body has proposed the construction of 100 new public toilets across the city. In the education sector, 75 municipal schools will introduce “Pink Rooms” — dedicated spaces designed to support adolescent girls with awareness and guidance on health and well-being.
Significant allocations have also been earmarked for development projects, water supply, and sewage management, while maintaining fiscal discipline.

Civic officials stated that the budget is designed to support Pune’s expanding needs, with a focus on inclusive growth, improved infrastructure, and citizen-centric initiatives.
