Pune, 28th March 2026: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has initiated the next phase of the Nashik Phata–Khed elevated corridor project by opening technical bids for its construction, a key step towards addressing persistent traffic congestion on the Pune–Nashik highway.

The proposed 30-km, eight-lane elevated corridor, estimated to cost around Rs 7,827 crore, has attracted participation from major infrastructure players such as Adani Enterprises, GR Infraprojects and Prakash Asphalting and Toll Highways India.

The long-pending project is expected to ease traffic woes for commuters and industrial transport operating between Pimpri Chinchwad and Rajgurunagar (Khed), a stretch known for heavy congestion.

BJP MLA Mahesh Landge said he had consistently followed up with authorities to push the project forward. He highlighted key challenges such as land acquisition issues along the Indrayani river belt between Bhosari and Moshi, hurdles in land procurement through FSI and TDR mechanisms, and funding-related concerns.

According to officials, the project includes construction of an eight-lane elevated corridor on a single-pillar structure, expansion of the existing highway from four to six lanes, and development of service roads to separate local and long-distance traffic.

Once completed, the corridor is expected to significantly improve connectivity to key industrial hubs such as Pimpri-Chinchwad, Bhosari and Chakan, while reducing travel time, congestion and accident risks on the route.

Landge termed the progress in the tender process a positive development, stating that the project would benefit lakhs of residents, workers and industries in the region.
