Pune, 28th March 2026: The Pune Rural Police have secured the fourth rank in Maharashtra in the state government’s 150-day e-governance improvement programme, scoring 145 marks out of 200 in the overall evaluation. The force also achieved the first rank in the Kolhapur Range for its performance in implementing technology-driven governance initiatives.

The recognition was presented to Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at a ceremony held at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai.

The evaluation under the 150-day e-governance programme assessed police departments on parameters such as efficiency, transparency and citizen-centric services. Special emphasis was placed on the use of digital systems, online services, data management, dashboard monitoring and technology-based decision-making.

Officials said the Pune Rural Police have implemented several digital systems to improve service delivery and operational efficiency. Through the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), information related to FIR registration, crime records, investigation progress and accused persons is available on a single platform, enabling real-time data sharing across police stations.

Under the ‘Aaple Sarkar’ portal, Pune Rural Police have made 17 services available online for citizens. Residents can apply for services, obtain certificates and access various facilities from home. Complaints and applications received through the ‘Aaple Sarkar Grievance’ system are being resolved within 14 days, officials said.

The adoption of the e-Office system has helped promote paperless administration and enabled faster disposal of cases, improving transparency and efficiency in internal functioning.

In addition, a WhatsApp chatbot system provides citizens with round-the-clock access to information, complaint registration and service status updates, making communication quicker and more convenient.

Through an integrated dashboard and the official website, information about the Pune Rural Police’s performance, crime statistics and services has been made easily accessible to citizens, further strengthening transparency.

The implementation of a GIS-based system allows officials to track the real-time location of officers during night patrols and helps citizens identify the nearest police station during emergencies for immediate assistance.

Officials also highlighted the improved response time under the Dial 112 emergency service, which has enhanced the efficiency of emergency assistance.

For maintaining law and order during large gatherings, the police have introduced a ‘Police Pad’ system that helps plan manpower deployment at public events with a crowd of 4,000 to 10,000 people. The system has been effectively used during major events such as the Bhima-Koregaon gatherings and the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi procession.

Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill, the department also implemented “60 Days” and “90 Days” pilot projects aimed at accelerating the disposal of pending cases, improving service delivery and strengthening internal coordination.

Speaking about the achievement, Gill praised the efforts of officers and staff and said that building a transparent, efficient and citizen-friendly policing system with the help of technology is the need of the hour. He added that Pune Rural Police will continue working in this direction.

He also noted that the recognition is a matter of pride for the entire Pune Rural Police force and will serve as inspiration for other police units across the state.
