Pune, 28th March 2026: LPG Agency’s License Suspended with Immediate Effect Over Rule Violations

Pune, 28th March 2026: The Pune district administration has suspended the licence of a gas agency in Hinjawadi and halted its LPG cylinder supply after it was found distributing cylinders to unauthorised and unregistered individuals, officials said.

The action was taken by the district supply department on the directions of District Collector Jitendra Dudi for violation of government norms.

Officials said the agency, M/s Shri Laxmi Bharatgas, is authorised by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to distribute commercial LPG cylinders. However, an inspection carried out on March 26 revealed that it had not adhered to the prescribed priority norms during distribution.

The inquiry found that cylinders were supplied to unregistered persons and sold at higher-than-approved rates to generate excess profit.

Authorities said that such practices could lead to confusion over LPG availability and trigger law and order concerns. Following this, the administration ordered immediate suspension of both the agency’s licence and its supply operations.

District Supply Officer Mahesh Sudhalkar has instructed BPCL to enforce the order and submit a compliance report at the earliest.
