Baner, 28th March 2026: Concerns over possible traffic congestion on the Pashan–Baner Link Road have been raised ahead of the opening of a new Passport Seva Kendra in the area from Monday. BJP Corporator Sunny Vinayak Nimhan has urged the authorities to take immediate steps to manage traffic and maintain public order in the locality.

In a representation submitted to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the traffic police, Nimhan stated that the start of operations at the passport service centre is expected to attract a large number of citizens daily. As a result, the movement of auto-rickshaws, cabs and private vehicles on the busy road is likely to increase, raising the possibility of frequent traffic jams.

He also pointed out that the emergence of unauthorised hawkers, food vendors and xerox shops near the centre could lead to encroachments, narrowing the road and worsening traffic conditions. Nimhan expressed concern that in the absence of a dedicated parking arrangement, visitors may park their vehicles along the roadside, slowing down traffic flow.

Highlighting the need for safety and order due to the anticipated crowd, Nimhan stressed that adequate police deployment would be necessary in the area.

He has demanded that the administration implement effective traffic management measures in advance. These include declaring no-parking zones, designating proper drop-off points, creating a separate parking facility, and launching a special drive against unauthorised hawkers.

Nimhan also suggested the deployment of traffic police personnel and volunteers at key points to regulate movement and assist visitors.

He expressed confidence that if the Pune Municipal Corporation, traffic police and other concerned departments hold a joint meeting and plan coordinated measures in advance, it will help ensure smooth services for citizens while maintaining order in the area.
