Pune Weather: Hailstorm Hits Hinjawadi, Residents Compare Scene to Shimla
Hinjawadi, 30th March 2026: A sudden change in weather conditions led to a brief hailstorm accompanied by unseasonal rainfall in parts of Hinjawadi on Sunday, surprising residents and commuters in the IT hub.
The area, widely known as Pune’s major technology corridor, witnessed hailstones scattered across roads and open spaces for a short period.
The unusual sight prompted several residents to compare the scene to hill stations, as small pellets of ice accumulated in parts of the locality.
According to earlier forecasts issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several regions of Maharashtra were likely to experience unseasonal rain and thunderstorms. The prediction appeared to hold true as hail and rain were reported from Hinjawadi as well as a few other parts of Pune district.
The sudden rainfall provided temporary relief from the rising temperatures that the city had been experiencing in recent days. However, the weather disturbance also caused brief disruptions to traffic and routine activities in some areas.
Officials said they are keeping a close watch on the situation as fluctuating weather patterns continue to affect different parts of the region. Residents have also been advised to remain cautious during sudden weather changes.
