Pune, 31st March 2026: A young gymnast from Pune has drawn international attention after finishing among the top competitors at a prestigious global event in Germany, while coaches from his academy have also secured an opportunity to enhance their expertise through an international training programme.
Nishad Naravane, representing India, competed in the Pommel Horse event at the DTB Pokal World Challenge Cup held in Stuttgart, Germany. He became the first Indian junior gymnast to qualify for the Pommel Horse finals at the competition.
Entering the finals in seventh position, Naravane delivered a routine marked by control and consistency to finish sixth overall in the global rankings. His performance drew attention for its clean execution against a strong international field.
The young gymnast is now preparing for the upcoming Asian Gymnastics Championships scheduled to be held in China later this year.

Meanwhile, two coaches from Pune-based Infinity Gymnastics—Manasi Shevade and Abhishek More—have been selected to participate in the Level 1 International Coaches Course conducted by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG). The training programme, held from March 23 to March 28, aims to strengthen coaching standards and introduce participants to international training methodologies.
Officials from the academy said the selection of the coaches for the programme reflects ongoing efforts to align training practices with global standards while nurturing emerging talent.
With athletes competing at international events and coaches participating in global certification programmes, the academy hopes to further contribute to the development of gymnastics talent from Pune and India.
