84 mm Rain at NDA, 65 mm in Shivajinagar; One Pune Flight Diverted to Goa Due to Bad Weather

Pune, 2nd April 2026: An intense spell of rain, accompanied by hailstorms in parts of the city, caused widespread disruption on Thursday. According to the India Meteorological Department, the highest rainfall was recorded in the National Defence Academy (NDA) area at 84 mm, followed by 65 mm in Shivajinagar.

The adverse weather also impacted flight operations. Officials at Pune airport said an Ahmedabad–Pune flight had to be diverted to Goa due to bad weather. No other flights were affected.

The city has been witnessing heavy rain along with hailstorms over the past three days, with Thursday’s downpour leading to severe waterlogging in several areas.

Rainfall recorded in other parts of the city included 42.5 mm in Hadapsar, 36.3 mm in Pashan, 29 mm in Dapodi, and 28.5 mm in Chinchwad, IMD data showed.
