Pune: 17-Year-Old Girl Dies by Suicide in Baner After Youth Threatens to Circulate Photos
Baner, 6th April 2026: A shocking incident has come to light from the Baner area of Pune, where a 17-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide after being harassed by a young man who had threatened to circulate her photographs on social media.
The deceased, a minor girl from Balewadi, reportedly jumped from the terrace of a residential building around 11.30 am on Saturday (April 4).
Based on a complaint filed by the girl’s brother at Baner Police Station, a case has been registered against Gorakh Sugriv Gore (21), currently residing in Balewadi and originally from Shankarnagar in Patoda, Jalna district. He has been booked on charges of abetment to suicide.
According to police officials, the accused allegedly harassed the girl after noticing that she used to speak with a young man who lived in the same neighbourhood. He is also accused of threatening to circulate her photographs on social media.
Following the incident, police registered a case and initiated an investigation. Crime Branch Police Inspector Alka Sarg is leading the probe to determine the circumstances that led to the incident.
