Pune: Kidzee Pre-School Wagholi Damaged After Fire and Cylinder Explosion

Wagholi, 6th April 2026: A fire broke out at a Kidzee pre-school located in the Ivy Estate area of Wagholi on Sunday evening, triggering a gas cylinder explosion and causing significant damage to school property. Fortunately, no one was injured as the incident occurred on a Sunday when the school was closed.

According to officials, the fire was reported around 6.15 pm. Upon receiving the information, a team from the Wagholi Fire Station rushed to the spot with a fire tender to control the blaze.

Firefighters found two gas cylinders inside the premises, which increased the risk during the operation. One of the cylinders exploded after being engulfed in flames, intensifying the situation.

Despite the danger, the fire personnel acted swiftly and carefully managed to remove the second cylinder from the building, preventing further explosions.

Considering the intensity of the fire, two additional fire tenders from the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Kharadi Fire Station were also called to assist in the operation. After joint efforts by both teams, the firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control.

The fire caused heavy damage to school furniture, books and other materials.
