Milan Jangam (Gurav) Appointed Member of Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights
Pune, 12th April 2026: The Maharashtra government has appointed Milan Devendra Jangam (Gurav) as a member of the Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, a key body under the Women and Child Development Department.
The appointment comes in recognition of her significant contributions in the fields of social work, education, and women empowerment. Officials said her experience and grassroots engagement are expected to strengthen the commission’s efforts in safeguarding child rights across the state.
Milan is an experienced mentor, counsellor, author, and educator. She holds a postgraduate degree in Social Sciences, along with a B.Ed, a diploma in School Management, and a diploma in Psychological Counselling. She has also worked extensively in the areas of psychological counselling and training, besides contributing to the education sector over several years.
Her work spans multiple domains, including women empowerment, health awareness, improving the quality of education, and social justice. She has actively conducted health check-up camps for women, breast cancer awareness drives, online business training sessions, and self-help group workshops in Pune, Ratnagiri, and various rural areas. She has also supported tribal and underprivileged women through targeted initiatives.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, she was involved in distributing educational materials to students and extending relief support to flood-affected communities.
In recognition of her work, Milan has received several honours, including the National Swayamsiddha Award (2025) and the Samaj Ratna Award (2023). She was also felicitated by the Pune Municipal Corporation for her contribution to women empowerment, along with accolades from various social organisations.
