Pune: Five PMC Engineers Get Notices For Ignoring Commissioner’s Inspection Orders
Pune, 28th October 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued show-cause notices to five junior engineers for failing to regularly report field inspections and action taken to address civic issues, despite explicit orders from municipal commissioner Naval Kishore Ram.
The notices were issued by additional municipal commissioner Prajit Nair to Suryakant Valmiki of Vishrambaug-Wada ward office and Smita Shinde, Akash Kadam, Mayur Jadhav and Ganesh Dhage of the Dhole Patil ward office.
Under orders issued on September 10, junior engineers and assistant commissioners were required to inspect their respective jurisdictions every working day to identify civic problems, including potholes, damaged manhole covers, faulty footpaths, drainage issues, garbage management lapses, water supply complaints and encroachments.
Officials were directed to update inspection findings and action taken on a designated Google Sheet, supported by GPS-tagged before-and-after photographs or videos. Weekly reports were to be submitted every Friday, with the commissioner reviewing progress every Monday.
Nair said the five engineers were found to have conducted only three to four inspections, prompting the civic body to seek explanations for their failure to comply with the directives.
