Kondhwa, 14th April 2026: The 135th birth anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was marked with a large-scale celebration in Kondhwa Khurd, where a 25-foot-tall statue was installed as part of the commemorative event.

The programme was organised by the Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti Utsav Committee, Kondhwa Khurd, under the leadership of Advocate Tosif Shaikh.

According to organisers, a tribute ceremony was held late on April 13 at around 11:30 pm at the statue site. The programme included a guard of honour by members of Samata Sainik Dal and Bhim Sainiks, collective recitation of Buddha Vandana, and a fire and light show.

Further events were scheduled on April 14 between 7 pm and midnight at Jyoti Chowk in Kondhwa, including a formal tribute ceremony and felicitation of dignitaries. Cultural programmes and a light show were also part of the celebrations.

The event took place at Narveer Tanaji Malusare Chowk near Jyoti Hotel in Kondhwa Khurd, where a large number of people gathered to witness the unveiling of the statue. Women and children were also present in significant numbers.

The programme was conducted in the presence of local representatives, including Advocate Haji Gafur Pathan, a corporator of the Pune Municipal Corporation.

Organisers said the event saw participation from residents of Kondhwa Khurd as well as members of different communities, with the aim of promoting social harmony and unity.
