RPF Constable Saves Senior Citizen Passenger Dragged by Moving Train at Ranchi Station
Ranchi, 15th April 2026: A 61-year-old passenger was rescued from a life-threatening situation at Ranchi Railway Station on 14 April 2026 after slipping into the gap between the platform and a moving train, officials said.
The incident occurred around 12:55 pm when the passenger, identified as Md. Nasiruddin, attempted to board Train No. 13320. He lost balance and fell into the platform gap as the train began to move, resulting in him being dragged for a short distance.
An on-duty Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable, Gourav, stationed nearby, immediately responded to the situation. He rushed towards the moving train and pulled the passenger to safety.
According to railway officials, the rescue was carried out under Operation “Jeevan Raksha,” an initiative aimed at preventing accidents and ensuring passenger safety across railway premises.
The passenger was safely removed from the gap and did not sustain major injuries, officials confirmed.
Railway authorities reiterated that boarding or deboarding moving trains remains a major safety risk and continues to be a cause of accidents across stations.
