New Delhi, 15 April 2026: News18’s Command Centre is an explainer show featuring Gaurav Arya (Retd.). The show focuses on moving away from conventional debate formats to analysing global conflicts and their geopolitical impact.

During a panel discussion aired on April 14, 2026, Arya, in conversation with Pakistani anchor Mona Alam, spoke about his stance on the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict. In the course of the discussion, he reportedly described India as Israel’s “true brother” and expressed support for Israel’s military actions in Lebanon and Gaza.

He further added, “…drop 100 more bombs on Lebanon and 50 more on Gaza,” while also stating that he has “never liked the Iranian regime.”

The remarks quickly gained traction online, with users on X divided in their reactions. While some backed Arya’s position and highlighted India’s strategic ties with Israel, others stressed that his views are personal and do not reflect India’s official stance.

The controversy escalated after a response from the Iranian Consulate, which strongly criticised the remarks. In its statement, the Consulate said such views hold no credibility and condemned what it described as “support for a genocidal and occupying regime,” adding that such rhetoric is used to justify continued attacks.

The debate comes at a time of heightened tensions in West Asia. Amid the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, which reportedly began on February 28, 2026, a ceasefire has been in place since April 8, 2026, with diplomatic efforts underway. While an initial round of talks in Islamabad did not yield results, further discussions are expected.
