Pune: Six including doctors and nurses booked over infant’s death due to alleged wrong treatment
Pune,17th April 2026: Sahakarnagar police have registered a case against six people, including four doctors and two nurses from a hospital in Navi Peth, following allegations that an 11-month-old girl died after receiving improper treatment.
The complaint was lodged by Hanumant Ganpatrao Gite (34), a resident of Heramb Society in Balajinagar, Dhankawadi.
According to police, Gite’s daughter Aditi was admitted to the private hospital in May 2025 after she developed vomiting complaints. In his complaint, Gite alleged that the doctors and nurses were aware that negligence in treatment could prove fatal, but still treated the child in an improper manner, leading to her death.
Following the complaint, the matter was referred to a panel of medical experts at Sassoon General Hospital for inquiry.
During the investigation, the expert committee reportedly found that the 11-month-old child had been treated incorrectly and concluded that medical negligence led to her death.
Based on the findings, police registered an offence under the Maharashtra Medical Practitioners Act, 2023. Further investigation is underway.
