Ganeshotsav 2026: Flower Prices Surge in Pune as Demand Rises Ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi
Pune, 13th September 2026: With Ganeshotsav approaching, the flower market at Pune’s Market Yard has witnessed a sharp rise in demand, with farmers sending large quantities of flowers to the market and prices of several varieties increasing.
Retail flower vendors and decorators have stepped up purchases ahead of the 12-day festival, pushing up prices of several major flower varieties. Prices of gulchhadi and chrysanthemum have doubled compared to the previous period.
Farmers from Solapur, Wai, Satara and Sangli have brought large quantities of flowers to the Market Yard. Chrysanthemums of the marigold variety have also arrived from Karnataka. Farmers from Yavat and Loni Kalbhor in Pune district are among those cultivating flowers on a large scale.
“Demand for flowers will remain strong throughout the festival and prices are expected to remain firm. Marigold and chrysanthemum are witnessing the highest demand, particularly for decorating public Ganesh mandals, pavilions and chariots. Demand for roses and hibiscus has also increased, while jasmine and hibiscus are in demand for puja,” said Sagar Bhosale, coordinator of the Akhil Phool Bazar Adte Association.
Buyers From Mumbai, Goa and Konkan
The increased demand is not limited to Pune. Flower traders from Dadar in Mumbai, Goa and the Konkan region have started procuring flowers in large quantities from Pune’s flower market.
Bhosale said farmers are satisfied with the prices they are receiving during the Ganeshotsav season.
The market has also recorded a significant increase in turnover. According to Santosh Kumbharkar, department head of the Flower Market at the Pune Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC), the market recorded a turnover of ₹68.26 lakh on Friday, September 11.
“The turnover is expected to increase further during the festival,” Kumbharkar said.
Wholesale Flower Prices
The current wholesale prices at the Market Yard include:
- Marigold: ₹30–40 per kg
- Gulchhadi: ₹300–400 per kg
- Aster: ₹10–20 per bunch; ₹100–150 per kg (loose)
- Chrysanthemum: ₹50–120 per kg
- Rose: ₹20–40 per bunch
- Gerbera: ₹80–100 per kg
- Carnation: ₹150–250 per kg
- Chrysanthemum stems: ₹150–250
- Lily: ₹800–1,500 for 10 flowers
- Orchid: ₹400–600
- Gypsophila: ₹150–250
- Juhi: ₹700–800
With demand expected to increase further as Ganesh Chaturthi approaches, traders anticipate firm prices and higher market turnover in the coming days.
